Use defining relative clauses to give essential information about a person, a place or thing.
Examples:

who has been nominated for 12 Oscars.
Hollywood is a place
where many films are made.
The Oscars are awards
which are given to actors and different people in the film industry.
Who
for people
Ex: Daniel Day-Lewis is a famous actor who is famous for his roles in many films.
Which
for things or animals
Ex: The studios in which big movies are filmed, are normally very large and expensive.
Ex: An action film is a movie that has many exciting scenes like car chases and shootouts.
In conversation you can use "that" instead of "who/which".
